Hello to everyone, I have been scheduled to have the Maze next week in Dallas by Dr. William Ryan at Prebyterian Hospital in Dallas. The Maze was suggested to my by my EP after numerous medications have failed to control my AFib. I have been having Afib for around 13 years mostly under control by medications, but over time they have either stopped working or have caused serious side effects. I am 51 and hoping that the Maze is the last stop on the Afib roller coaster. I will under go a full maze as the Dr believes it is most effective and because my underlying cause of AF is hypertrophic cardiomyophy which might require an addition procedure.

I have been reading this site with great interest and was encouraged by the Dr to seek out information. If there are any other sites out there about the Maze I would appreciate knowing about them.

I am of course more than a little nervious about this. I am aware of the risks and have read some of the bumps in the road that could come along. I am particularly interested in how people handled the pain management post-op. I am a big baby when it comes to pain and I am not looking to get a purple heart out of this. Thanks for your help
