Sheena: I can only agree with Pat re: the apprehension, fear of the unknown, and waiting for surgery being the toughest part of the maze. My discomfort was nowhere NEAR as bad as I had imagined, and seeing my heart in NSR just about eliminated the pain. She is also right about the food (except for breakfast, where the good thing was fresh fruit). I learned from my roommate that if you wanted more of a particular thing on the menu (very large selection), you just needed to write it in. I quickly learned that I could have 2 cups/dishes of fresh fruit with each meal, which was better than getting a dessert, which I guess I could have had as well.
As I believe Dave said, you just won't believe how much better you will feel in NSR. I quickly recognized that I was much less irritable, etc., and others began to tell me the same. You just don't realize how bad you felt until you get the chance to feel NSR for a couple of weeks. If only more cardiologists had AF so they would KNOW what it and the drugs can do to one's wellbeing. They would be a whole lot more interested in more progressive treatment.
