Jim, your brief history sounds very much like mine. I am just a few years ahead of you on it all, including age.
I was still young, (59), when my cardiologist first suggested the maze. but at that time I was only having AF about every 2 weeks, and it wasn't that bad. By the time I hit middle age, (64), I was to the point that you say you are now. I give in and had the maze, and it was the best decision I had made in a long time. Every since I came out of surgery, I have been AF, and medication free.
Now At the age of (68 in Oct.), I am getting younger every day. Going on a 25 mile bicycle ride tomorrow.
