I spent yesterday ay the Ohio State University cardiac center having a cardiac catheterization in preparation for my maze procedure later today. My coronary arteries are clear and there is no sign of deposits or disease. The folks at the hospital had the impression that I had been admitted. I wanted to leave and enjoy the traditional hearty meal and the great weather here in Columbus while I still can. Fortunately the good folks at OSU were able to work with me so I get to go back at 6:00 am this morning. When we spoke with Dr. Brown he indicated that as heart procedures go, this one was no big deal. He also dismissed any post op pacemaker concerns - if you need one its no big deal and will not impact your ability to run, workout, etc. Some of you folks who see this may have different opinions.

If you are interested in following my progress just go to http://thestatus.com . Click the 'visit a patient page' link on the top left. On the log in screen the patient id is jenkins and the password is post-kansas .Anne will be updating the page following my procedure and I will be updating it as I recover..

I will be having the surgery from about 8:00am - 11:00 am this morning and will then be transferred to the ICU. Diane Buchele has promised to take my digital camera into the OR for some procedure shots and I'll post them on the web site later.

Thanks for all of your prayers and good wishes - they seem to be working so far.

All the best - Paul
