Of course this is your own problem, but I would guess that many others have had problems, thoughts or concerns that are similar.

Depression is a multifaceted state. It is probably at least partly chemical,in imbalance of neurotransmitters. It is in part learned. It becomes a patterned response to an unfortunate or untoward series of events. Once we have thoughts that follow a certain pattern or path of reasoning or thinking, the same pattern becomes more likely to occur again. It can also be a part of more universal response to a major life calamity. My own belief is that you have thoughts of recurring helplessness or hopelessness that last longer than 2 weeks,if you have limited your activities, social interactions,if your work performance has suffered,or more importantly personal relationships have suffered as a result of low mood, grumpiness or chronic anger, you probably ought to ask someone has some experience, formal training if you will, and expertise in dealing with these types of problems, for some help. Drugs might be indicated, they work at least 60% ofthe time on the first try, more with trials of different agents, short term interventional psychotherapy can be very helpful as well. I know, been there - but lots of folks with major disabilities learn to find ways to cope effectively and do just fine.
