Mike did your doctor mean focal ablation in the atria & pulmomary veins or AV node ablation? If he means AV node ablation then that may mask your afib but would still leave you exposed to clotting / stroke risk. Reason I ask is that I have chronic afib and earlier this year a Mayo Clinic consult told me that focal ablation was not really indicated for those of us who are chronic because of the difficulty in mapping the hot spots. So you may want to be sure that you know what your doctor means by 'ablation'. Best of luck - Paul
