Dave, It is such good news that things are improving for you. I think your point is well taken that curing a-fib may take a variety of procedures. I must tell you that when you had your less than successful ablation/PVI at the CC in December I was worried about you and also your experience caused me to quesion whether I should go ahead with the PVI/ablation in January because, like you, I had a maze and mitral valve repair and a slight to moderately enlarged left atrium. You and others advisd that I should ask lots of questions (I did) but not necesssarily to cancel it. So thanks for the advice. I had the procedure. It took a while to get rid of all the a-fib, PACs and PVCs, but they are all gone now and I am glad I went ahead. I am still on Coumadin since Dr. Natale said at my 3 month check that I had "low to zero electrial function" in my left atrium which he attributed to excessive scar tissue as a result of the maze and PVI. I feel as if that has improved and will get it checked out soon, but Coumadin isn't anything; nothing like those heart drugs that I found very debilitating. Anyway, this is not about me, my point in writing is to say thanks for the help you gave me and to let you know how pleased I am that your outlook is improving, especially that the size of atrium has shrunk. That is excellent news. I wish you well in finally getting rid of a-fib altogether. Please keep us posted.
