Here we are 8 months after my visit to CC. Additional tests in response to Dr. Natale's concerns that we further examine my mitral valve and sinus node have shown that the valve and sinus node appear to be OK. A fellow a-fib sufferer that was a complex case visited CC in Dec. and again three months ago. He is now in NSR and drug free for the last 2.5 months. I am now converting to NSR more and more frequently for longer periods of time. A recent stress test with the nuculear scan showed excellent function, 60% EF, good mitral valve performance, and a left atrium down to 150cc as opposed to 280cc 8 months ago. I know that 150cc is still extremely large, but it had been as large as 400cc before my MAZE. My point in this follow-up is to remind us all that even though we share the same problem that the specifics of each of our conditions are unique to each of us. Results from these procedures can sometimes take months to manifest themselves. Don't give up hope. If future progress and tests indicate I might go back to the CC to take a shot at nailing the last problem areas. It is becoming obvious that a complete cure to a-fib may well require a series of procedures to complete the job.
