To MAZE or not to MAZE is a quality of life issue. If your quality of life has not been significantly diminished you would not want to consider MAZE surgery. In my case I had A-Fib for about two years before I considered MAZE surgery. I had been on almost all the medicines. The quality of my life was reduced 50% and the prospects were for things to get worse. In my case the MAZE surgery has improved my quality of life sufficient to say it was definitely worth it.
