I ran into the same problem. There are no doctors in WA who do the MAZE. The best alternative my insurance gave me was to get a cardiologist that they cover to state that I need the MAZE - that my life depends on it. I have an EP study set up for September and possibly a run on Tikosin, but the doc I have seen recently says that if what he does doesn't work, and soon, that he will be happy to send me to Boise. (Dr. Barnes)

I have heard that there are 2 new docs in Portland who do the MAZE but do not have that information confirmed.

The only other option you have is to convince your insurance co., or your doc to speak on your behalf and ask for them to make an exception for you. Last resort is to contact the WA State Insurance .. ah crud, what is that person called? Well, I have it written down somewhere. Please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to share the information I have been given.

For now, I will simply have to jump through the hoops that have been placed before me. It is not the road I would have chosen to better health - but who know's - maybe I'll get better along the way. Anyway, I believe God sees the "big picture" and I am happy to travel the path that is set before me, even if it isn't on "my terms". (*still really frustrated, though!!)

Sincerely,
Angie Strand
