Jack,

I have had several echo's in the past four months, I am getting ready to have an ablation next month. The tech's doing the scan are pretty savvy, they see lots of things. If there was something wrong they probably would not say anything. The girls doing mine (3) saw extra fluid around my heart. When I finally questioned the doctors, they said yes it was there but the felt it would go away when I was put on my new meds. they would not have said anything if the tech had not mentioned it. So, if they said things looked O.K., it probably was.

The long term effects of AF is fibrosis of the heart, leading to permanent AF. But, and this is a big one, not everyone advances in to permanent AF. You just never know.
