Dave, I'm sure that each hospital has a different set of procedures. In my husband's case, at Cleveland Clinic, after coming out of surgery around 5:30 p.m.,
he was still on the ventilator when I saw him around 7:30. When I called to check on him at 10:30 p.m., the nurse said that he was in his last stage of recovery before removing it. So we estimate that it was removed around midnight. As to the chest tubes,
they were removed sometime between 1 and 4 p.m. the next afternoon. (so they were removed within 24 hours of surgery.) Best of luck to you. Shearin.
