You will likely still be intubated, if not on a ventilator and you will have one or more chest tubes, depending on the surgeon's preference and the surgical approach. The intubation wasn't terrible. When I woke up, the folks in my room were watching "Friends" on TV, a show I really dislike. I was more irritated with the television than I was with endotracheal tube (did I mention the nurses were really happy to see me go) The chest tubes are uncomfortable and a pain in the neck to take with you on your mandated walks, but they come out typically at day 2 or day 3.
