You are absoultely correct, the data is skewed and that is why it is so hard to do epidemiology studies. There has only been one to my knowledge, an observational study published in Lancet 3 or 4 years ago that suggested af may be about 10 more common in masters endurance athletes than in the general population. Just as an aside, the current World Champion and Olympic Gold Medal winner in men's olympic single sculls, Rob Waddell, had onset of AF at age 21 or 22. He's a behemoth,about 6'7" I think, with an absolute vO2 max around 8 litres per minute.
