In the past when I was admitted to a hospital by orders of a Dr. for non emergency procedures and also through the ER as well, I arrived at the hospital and the admissions clerks took all insurance information and other pertinent information. I would be dismissed and go home. I would not know until after all insurance claims had been filed by the hospital and Dr. and been paid whether I owed anything or not.
My PVA procedure will be performed at THI in Houston.
What I'm getting at is this......how can I find out if this procedure will be covered by Medicare and Blue Cross Blue Shield that I have through the company I am retired from so I will not have any unexpected negative surprises.
Am I supposed to call BCBS to ask what they will pay or is that handled through the hospital or Dr.?
My experiences in the past as I said earlier was always handled by the hospitals and the Drs.
Thanks,
