Hans: It sounds as though you are pretty close to "normal" among the "mazers". It seems that some doctors
prescribe drugs post maze more as a precaution than for anything else. Others have sent their patients home with nothing more than instructions to take an asprin a day.
I had a few hours of AF on the 4th day (still in hospital) and it stopped forever when I choked/coughed on some coffee which I swallowed "wrong". My doctor at the Cleveland Clinic still put me on Rythmol, then reduced the dosage by 1/2 two days later. When I got home, my local EP reduced it again by 1/2 at 10 days
following surgery, and stopped it 30 days after that. He still wanted me to take coumadin until 6 months had passed, but I switched to asprin at 5 months since I had no AF since day 4.
I am confident you will continue to feel better and better, until maybe you just feel you can't stand feeling so good!!!
