Hmmmmm.........well, MY EP surgeon didn't/wouldn't just ablate an area, for the fun of it. I don't think he'd want to make any more scars than necessary! I'm sure that's why we need "touch ups" sometimes, but it seems that mapping, is a more conservative approach.
My Pulmonary veins were pretty well "ringed" with ablation burns, except for one, which is only about 1/4way around. Mine were stubborn, and because of YEARS of errant impulses, they had "worn" a pretty good "pathway" in the wrong directions.
I guess I can't say i'm SURE about his aproach being good, or bad, but my gut, says I'd rather have in mapped to know where the errant energy is, and isn't.
