I experienced an interesting phenomenon on Sunday, while biking. Unlike Saturday, when I was able to go over 20 miles with a HR of 140-145 and a peak of 150, my 2 riding partners started out faster and I was quickly up to 155bpm, and only lasted about 3.5 miles. I would guess that either my legs just aren't getting enough oxygen or I have reached my current maximum HR.
I did drop off and go back and worked on my leg strength by climbing a bridge 4 times as hard as I could go, which only got my HR up to 142-45 each time.
I was puzzled though, as to why my resting HR was still
at about 90 over 4 hours later, compared to 70 the day before. I am NOT complaining, I would have been out of breath 7 months ago just walking up this bridge! I just wondered if anyone else had found their HR slow to come back to normal after doing interval or sprint workouts as opposed to distance or steady pace?
