I'm new to this site, so forgive me if I'm not as familiar with the Maze procedure or ablation. I've had SVT, PAT, AF, etc. etc. for 30 yrs - even went straight line and had out of body experience. I'm at the point when episodes are more frequent, though not as severe (200 beats pm v 260+ pm) but I am always converted in ER's and it is wearing thin. Ablation has just been recommended by a new cardiologist I am seeing and I am to schedule soon. I guess I know the risks of doing it vs not, but it is scary. With ablation, I think the risk is more in the short term than to be on whatever drug of choice there is and risk long term.
