Dona: Perhaps your Dr.used "mini" maze in his description of your options, but the microwave procedure to which you refer is not what is commonly referred to as the "mini" maze.
We have one board participant who had a "beating heart"
maze procedure which was apparently not at all successful. Hopefully, she will soon be able to have the maze "touched up" and she will join the ranks of the "cured".
Again, ask questions! Who has done and is doing this procedure? How many? How long have they done them?(You want to know the long term results, since many of us have had ablations which only lasted a few months or so.
Any new info you can learn, please post here. It may well help others. If a description is too difficult to interpret, ask someone (DR., etc.) to post here for the benefit of all of us.
NOTE: While I post here often, it is not because I am an expert by ANY means. I am simply reciprocating for the info which was provided to me before I had my maze.
The value to me of being able to communicate with others who had traveled the same path was just immeasureable, and actually being able to visit 2 "mazers" at the CC just a few days after their surgeries kept me from "chickening out". Without this site I never would have known of them and the many others who gave me the will to go through with the maze. (Of course, my failing lungs, depression, and drug side effects, gave me the impetus to explore the maze).
