Judy, I don't know where you live, but there is a excellent Maze surgeon in Peoria, Illinois.
In 1998 I tried to get Dr. Cox, who was at Barnes. He was in the process of moving to Georgetown at the time.
I took my cardiologist's advise and had Dr. Dale M. Geiss in Peoria do my surgery. I have never regretted it for one moment.
Dr. Geiss hasn't done as many as the CC, but he started doing the Maze in the early 90's, and has a excellent track record on them.
Dr. Geiss doesn't specialize in the maze, as he mostly reconstructs baby's harts that were born with birth defects. He is a dedicated, very talented surgeon who is patient friendly. If I should ever have to undergo any heart surgery, I would consider no one else but Dr. Geiss. The OSF St. Francis Medical Center is also a very fine medical facility.
