Carley, by now you are probably on overload but it is my understanding that AFib doesn't get better, only worse. A daily mild dose of beta blocker controlled my AFib for five years then started I started having frequent and severe bouts.

I found the medications to control the advanced AFib unbearable and incompatible with my life style. I stumbled on this board and the Cleveland Clinic in March of this year. I had decided to go for the PVA but then a heart catherization revealed a severe regurgitating mitral vale. That made the maze a no-brainer for me.

Dr. Marc Gillinov at the Cleveland Clinic and his team performed the mitral valve repair and radio frequency-modified maze on May 23rd. I am AFib free and drug free! I haven't felt this good in years!

My cardiologist also considered the maze experimental but was teachable as I fed him information on the maze that I copied from the internet. Now he is a believer.

Good luck with your decision.
