Deniss, how can you put any trust in what a Dr. says that gives a rundown on the treatment, and possible cures of Atrial Fibrillation and fails to mention the MAZE PROCEDURE. Any Dr. that ignores the maze as a possible cure for AF, is poorly informed or has a agenda of his own he is trying to push.
Since 1987 when Dr. Cox developed the Maze until the last few years, it was the only procedure available that gave a good chance for a cure. Now Pulmonary Vein Ablation also offer a good chance of a cure, but still not as good as the maze.
Most everyone on this web site that has been cured of AF, by Maze or Ablation spent many years on medication and/or self trial and error treatments before they give in and had a procedure that offered a cure.
The Maze, or PVA's don't always give immediate cures to AF, but many times, as in my case it was.
I spent 28 to 30 years fighting AF, with medications. My AF, as in most cases, was progressive, and only became worse with time.
At the age on 64 I could no longer stand to live my life as I was. AF and medications had reduced me to a minimal existence. I opted for the maze April 10,1998, and have been cured ever since. I am now 70, take only blood pressure, and cholesterol meds., and am very healthy. If I had not opted for the maze, I would not be here today writing this.
Best wishes and prayers for what ever treatment you choose.
