Insurance Glitch

Wow! Awesome changes made to the board! Good job!

I wanted to send an update, as I had posted my MAZE being scheduled for July 9 - here it is July 10 and I am posting to the board. I did not get on as scheduled. My insurance/clinic has put up a fit - as there are not doc's in my state who do the maze. I am a bit frustrated also, as my last cardio. has made the statement to the referral committee that I do not need the surgery and I am too young to live with the risks of this procedure.

One of the gals on the referral committee said to me, "Well you know surgeons get paid for surgery and of course they would say you are a great candidate." to which I responded, "Well, as long as I don't have surgery, my cardiologist gets paid for seeing me." She was not very thrilled with that response.

They had been considering making an exception to cover the procedure (as the ins. co. has covered it before - that's why I picked it) or network with the doc so he could be under contract ... but my last cardio. (who I haven't been seeing recently) stuck her big nose in where it wasn't invited and has put things up in the air. Of course, they appologized for making this decision just the week before surgery was scheduled.

Really trying not to whine here ... I was told that if I could get a cardiologist in the area to state that I do need the surgery, it will go through. Duh! Of course the opinion of the surgeon doesn't count. Very frustrating place to be in, since we purchased 3 airline tickets, arranged childcare for 2 children, had a cousin fly out to nanny after surgery and care for me if necessary, time off work, replacement, blah, blah, blah. Sorry if I sound bitter, but I am still AF'ing!! Now I get to start this all over again.
