Gayle, I didn't have any valve problems, and had the maze at 64, but I talked to a lady who was 74 and had a valve replaced and the maze by the surgeon who did mine, and she did good.
It is very common to replace or repair a valve and do the maze at the same time. There was a few surgeons who would not do the maze unless they had to go in to do the valve job anyway. I think most of them will do the maze alone now, but most surgeons are trained to do both.
There may be some others on the board that can give you some more information. Every one on the board try to be very helpful, and most have a lot of good information.
There are two Cal. surgeons listed on the "MAZE Surgeons" page, and Dr. Chang in San Francisco, is the one listed as doing the valve and maze.
Best wishes and prayers.
