I too had at times a fast heart rate for a few years after MAZE. I controlled it with atenolol. I only took the amount I needed. Sometimes only one half of a 25 mg tablet. I now take no medicine and my resting heart rate is 56 bpm. My recovery rate after exercise is also now excellent whereas earlier it took longer for my heart rate to drop and sometimes required taking atenolol.
