To Jack and John Behle,
Sometimes I receive email asking for details that I have described in a post a year or so, ago. I give the Title of the post and the Date, but I'm not sure everyone knows how to go about finding it.

I would like to make a few suggestions for your consideration to make it easier for people new to the board to help them find information on this very important Maze medical database.

Suggestion 1:
In the links to the various parts of the Maze database, such as "Messages Page 1", etc, put the date range that the page covers.
Example: Messages Page 1 4-26-01 to 10-8-01
Messages Page 2 10-9-01 to 4-9-02
Messages Page 3 11-18-02 to Today

Suggestion 2:
That a new link be placed at the top of the screen named "Searching" or similar. This link would give tips and examples on searching the Maze database.

Example 1:
If a reader is referred to Jack Drum's excellent description of his post-op medical care, they would be given:

Re: post-op question? Jack Drum 4/01/2002

To find and read this important reference, they would do the following:
Click on Messages Page 2, because the date of the reference (4//01/2002) is in the date range of the Messages Page 2 section (10-9-01 to 4-9-02).
Hold down the CTRL key and enter an "F"
A small screen pops up. Enter 4/01/2002.
Press "Find new".
All messages with the date 4/01/2002 will be selected.
On the third press of "Find Next", Jack's message will appear and the reference can be read.

Example 2:
Suppose you remember reading: "Cox is no longer doing surgery". How do you find the post?
Enter
Cox is no longer doing surgery
into the Search box at the top of the page. Do NOT USE DOUBLE QUOTES around the phrase! Do not press ENTER. Press "Search"
All Pages of the Maze database (not just the current page) will be searched and Carl Plaskett's informative post of 10/04/2001 will be found.

Example 3:
Suppose you remember reading an important post mentioning both "lovenox" and "urokinase". This will take 2 searches.
First put
lovenox
into the seach box at the top of the page. Click on "Search" (Do not use the ENTER key!). The entire Maze database will be searched and 9 posts will be found.
Now enter CTRL "F" (see Example 1 above) and enter "urokinase" into the box (without the quotes).
Press "Find next".
Post #9 by Steve Giddings, dated 3/10/2003 will be highlighted. In this way, words that are separated but are in the same post may be found.

Jack and John. This is just a suggestion to increase the visibility of, and access to, the vital information contained in the Maze board.

Henry
