I've been reading this board for two years knowing that one day I would become a fellow mazer. well that day begins on march 24th, thats when I report to CCF for the battery of test to begin. I jist received my packet from CCF with a schedule of all testing, it is very extensive and takes three days before you are approved for surgery. Just going through the pre-surgery requirements is almost enough to make you turn and run. I have a leaking mitral valve and afib. I met w/ my cardiologist after I contacted CCF ( He is a friend of mine) he said I was not getting any better and that I needed to get my valve repaired before it got worse and needed to be replaced. I do not see a problem w/ insurance, that would be the only stumbling block now. I will have Dr. Mcarthy perform the surgery and the cardiologist will be Dr. Hammer. Most of my questions have been answered by others on the board. The CCF sent me a list of places to stay and there was no mention of the guest house, could some one clue me in. Reading about the micro-wave non-chest opening procedures makes me want to wait before having the open chest maze, but I need to repair the valve any way so I guess there is no choice.
With the possibilities of the microwave procedure to cure afib, Is it worth rethinking my decision to act now, and see what less evasive options are available in the near future? What a time to see the post on the new procedure. looking forward to alot of feed back. Thanks
