Pati, I had my maze at the CC (by Dr. McCarthy)...came out of the surgery really well, but slipped into A-fib about 2 days post-op. Like you, my heart rate was VERY high and I was discouraged... I couldn't recall ever being so fast. They spent the next 12 days trying to get me under control---Dr. McCarthy noted that I was a real 'challenge'...IS IS SOMETHING WITH THE NAME PAT???!! Anyway, I was discharged 2 weeks post-op in NSR (finally). That was in August of 2001...have been good since, with the exception of PVCs now and then. Try and stay positive and patient...it helps to know that not everybody has a smooth ride, but most of us usually reach the final destination! It sounds like you are on your way to NSR!
