I'm glad you had good results with your surgeon.

When I searched this board, before my Maze, there was no mention of him that I remember. Also, I have not heard of him since you gave us your account.

When it comes to surgery, I insist on someone with a lot of experience and some really good patient feedback. I was able to get this from CC. Dr McCarthy has done probably 400 Maze operations by now. He told me he averages 2 per week. As regards patient feedback, Ed Wehan runs 50 mile foot races since his surgery with Dr McCarthy. There are numerous other people on this board who have also had very satisfactory outcomes resulting from his care.

During the 6 years that I had Afib, I was a patient of cardiologists at Temple, U.Pa, and Hahneman, for a total of 6 cardiologists. Not one of them mentioned the Maze. Not one of them mentioned a heart surgeon in Philadelphia.
