I feel like Ed, I'm no expert in advising you on your weight question before the Maze. I think if there would be a problem your doc would immediately tell you. I can tell you that with any major surgery we all play "mind games" to rationalize putting it off. But then one person's rationalization is another person's reality. A "minor operation" is an operation on someone else. You'll get so many tests before the actual operation, that if there is the slightest problem, they'll let you know. All I can tell you is that with my situation, while not much overweight before the operation; other than walking, I was a big time couch potato. When I read how so many of the Mazer's Club do so much much running, etc. I feel inadequate. Again, best of luck.
