Jim, when my wife came in after surgery I was still on the ventilator, and she said I looked terrible.
The first recollection I have after the surgery was the following morning and the ventilator was removed and I felt fairly good.
I had my surgery where I lived, so I didn't have to worry about transportation. Some of the other mazers should give you some good advise on this, but I would suggest to FLY. I slept in a recliner the first night home, but in the bed after that.
I would hope and pray to not get a sinus infection before or right after the surgery. There is a chance the tubes could make the sinus condition act up. I would ask your surgeon about this and maybe he could give you something to keep the sinus condition from acting up.
Keep us advised as to your schedule and how everything is going.
Best wishes and prayers
