Jim,

I too am an athlete like you. I am 63 years old and an avid cyclist sometimes up to 100 miles a day. When I was your age I use to run. Also I had chronic afib and a leaky mitral valve. I had both the maze and a mitral valve repair done at CC 0n 9/27/02. I came through the operation in flying colors. Even woke breathing on my own (no breathing tube) and recovered very fast. The hospital personnel said the reason was I was in good physical shape. You being a runner and 14 years younger than me should do fine. It took about three months for my afib to correct.
