Hi Carl thanks for your reply, in answer to your question yes my treatment was on the National Health.

I don't have private health care cover it isn't really necessary in this country although there are some who believe differently, in my case the system worked perfectly I had no trouble at all in finding the right doctors I didn't have to do anything really everything just happened I just seemed to be along for the ride at times, I had read about my condition and the treatments that were available and all the obvious ones were offered to me so I found it difficult come up with any input apart from great when do we start!

So I never saw any red tape as it were but perhaps I was fortunate, having seen the pressure on the system from the receiving end and the through put of patients (there were at least 2 recovery wards like the one I was in) at just one hospital able to specialise in heart operations in the UK, by the way I was on the waiting list for 3 months and one week,ho dear I think I hear a high horse coming sorry!

I am on very few drugs at the moment just warfrin (coudamin) and a blood pressure tablet 5mg hopefully the surgeon will say no more warfrin when I see him at the end of Feb I not so sure about the BP tablet small though it is he may prefer to err on the side of caution and I have no problem with that!

Mines a pint by the way best bitter if you don't mind although I am partial to a bottle of red wine mind so cheers Carl and to all who post messages on this site!

Yours Phil Powell
