Deniss, I think you will find quite a few people on this board who have had the maze procedure and only had lone AFib. I am one of those. One of my complaints is that many cardiologists do not take AFib seriously when it is treated as a lone condition. Yet, the heart being out of rhythm for many years is a very serious situation as it can weaken or be the cause of stroke. For me, the most important ramification of being lone AFib was that physically, I couldn't do those things that I loved to do. It was a quality of life issue. Once I had the facts, the decision to have the maze was easy. Good luck.
