I have heard that being in constant afib tends to wear the heart down faster. I can't remember the scientific term. There is also the increased risk of stroke. I was constantly in afib for about 3 yrs. I had forgotten what it felt like to do basic actions such as walk up a flight of stairs without wondering if I was going to pass out. In addition, I found there was a feeling of malaise all the time, no energy at all . I had the procedure done in January at Cleveland Clinic. I am not in NSR full time yet, but the periods of NSR are fantastic. I have 3 very young children and it is fun to be able to keep up with them. This is a very hard decision to make. There are many risks to an operation , any operation . I have to say I would do it over.
You just have to make a decision you can live with.
