Chris I have never seen any study results on how much AF would shorten your life span, only the quality of your life style.
No one should advise you to have, or not to have the Maze. That decision is only yours to make after you get all the information you can. It basically comes down to if the AF, and the medications has degraded your life style enough for you to go through the short time for the surgery and recovery. The Maze success rate is very good, and it is basically the inconvenience of going through it compared to what a cure would mean to you. Best wishes and prayer to you.
