I agree with Anne, and some of the other remarks. Getting your valve repaired instead of the mechanical valve seems to me to be a big plus. I also agree with you that I would want some reasonable answers to my questions. I would definitely want to know why he didn't complete the surgery. Valve repair and the maze combination is done routinely by several surgeons. If I found that it was aborted for his convenience, it would be big problems.There are several surgeons with excellent track records, and I would not take a chance with this one again. Most of the surgeons that perform the maze seem to be of the highest caliber.
Keep us informed on what you find out, and what you plan on doing in the future. As some of the others said, it might be time to consider and put the ablation procedure into the options you have to cure the AF.
