The MAZE procedure is "lengthy and difficult" to quote Dr. McCarthy (see Ed Wehan's post on Dec. 22). The surgery you had without the MAZE procedure was already a major operation. No doubt your surgeon did not want to put you in serious risk. If after you recover from this surgery and want another opinion regarding a cure for A-FIB in addition to the Cleveland Clinic you might want to consider Dr. Duncan in Houston at the Texas Heart Institute. He did my MAZE over three years ago along with many others, some who have posted on this board. Don't be discouraged. Condsider how much better off you are now taking care of the heart problems you had. Wishing you a good recovery.
