Good suggestions, Mike and good follow-up by the others. First of all, Sarah, when I was at CC with Dr. McCarthy, he encouraged me to look at both ablations and the maze. I was never sold on the maze by him although that is what I chose.

One of the best things about this site is that it shows interested readers that they still have many years of great living to do if they just get rid of the AFib. The success stories show what we can all accomplish once we don't have to deal with AFib anymore. AFib can mean a slow death. Most of this group has been willing to take the small risk and deal with the problem and then go on living to the max. Since most cardiologists won't do this, this site is the only real option available. It amazes me that cardiologists will easily send someone into a bypass surgery for clogged arteries but won't even think of the surgical option for something as dangerous as AFib. And, Carl is right in that ablation technology is getting more successful if the AFib is caught in the early years. In the near future, more progress will be made and this site can be an excellent forum for what is happening out there.
