Steve,you sound very convincing that the atrial mechanical function will restore in the end.You know my coumadin-story: the cardiologists in Holland claim that in 50 % of the maze procedures the atrial mechanical function won't return at all (and reason for continuing coumadin for life).In spite of this I have stopped the coumadin,though the (left)atrial mechanical function is still not there.I am more than 1,5 year after the maze now.Next echo March 2003.Can I still have hope for some decent atrial mechanical function? And can lack of atrial function be a cause of less performance in training (running?)
