It seems to me there are some major flaws with this study, though I can't quite put my fingers on all of them (besides the obvious fact that there is a major statistical difference between 356 deaths and 310 ones). The study compared rythm control drugs with drugs that slow down the heart rate, but from that it draws a completely unbacked and illogical conclusion that there's no reason not to live with afib, particularly if you're old! I'm afraid that insurance companies will use this as an excuse not to pay for ablations and maze surgeries... I wonder if we, the patients, can make our viewpoints known? I can't wait to read the responses of the other participants in this site who are much more knowledgeable than I am. Kati
