Phillip: I was lucky enough to follow Ed by a few days at the CC, and knew that he wasn't keen on "waiting over a weekend", and continually expressed that feeling. I went out for dinner on a Wednesday night, figuring my procedure was going to be "Friday or Monday". I came back to learn at 10PM that I had been scheduled for 7:30AM Thursday. I could not have been happier. Waiting around would have been bad...FOR ME!! You might be different! I got to see the same surgeon (Dr. McCarthy) just before they preped me, and he made my wife and I feel so at ease that we knew I was in for a great result. Walking out of the CC on day 6, and not having afib for 22 months has been great. I was home doing 10-1/2 minute miles for 3 miles, twice/day by day 12. I could not have dreamed of doing that just 12 days earlier. My biking activity was postponed for 3 months since I was still on coumadin.
I am not nearly up to Ed's performance level, but I'll bet I'm just as happy!!...and I can enjoy wine with NO afib.
What a great new life I have, at 61+!
