Bill: I think you will find that the ultimate success rate for surgeries similar to yours to be in the 95% range, BUT with some patients, a "touch-up" ablation is necessary to reach that %age. Further, I think it might be a little early to think that your Maze was not successful, since your heart underwent even more trauma than those of us with LAF/Maze surgeries.

Has your problem been identified as Afib, or are you just experiencing some abnormal heartbeats which feel like afib? Some of us have had a few incidents of atrial flutter or atrial tachycardia post maze but they have subsequently disappeared or been ablated ("touch-up") several months later.

Where do you do all of your biking? You sound like a candidate for the old FARTS (Former Afibbers Restored To Sinus) group we are trying to put together for the BikeFlorida.org ride in March.
