My husband, Bob McKee, had the maze done at CC on April 25, 2002. His primary care dr. would not give him a referral because his electro. phys. said he would die on the table. We called CC and talked to Peg Judson. She called our ins. co. Select Blue. She said since my husband would be self-referred, we should only have to pay about $2,000.00. She said if they wouldn't pay the rest she would help us appeal. My husband had the maze done. His EF in the operating room was 20%, the day after when an echo was done showed an EF of 55%. Not bad for someone who was supposed to die on the table. He is still in NSR and is feeling better and has more energy than he had for years. Our insurance company has paid all of his bills, about $80,000.00. We did not have to pay a penny. Some of the bills had to be resubmitted because CC used the wrong codes, but all has been paid. We are very thankful for this site and all the information that everyone has shared.
