I had A-Fib off and on for several years before a doctor finally caught me in action.....During these spells I was lifeless and stayed in bed or in a recliner... AFTER doctor said A-Fib...I was put on several medications including blood thinner.......The medication was as bad as A-Fib and even with medication I still had A-Fib off and on for longer and longer periods........
At 46 years old I was to young to live in a recliner...I was tired of not living...And worried about side effects of all the medications I was on.....
I waited almost a year after my doctor told me about the MAZE....I waited because I had to FLY to Georgetown for Dr. Cox to do the surgery..A doctor I had never met in a hospital I had never been to...
I was so scared but I was determined to get well....I knew in my heart this surgery was for me and that I had to try.......
August 6, 1998 ...I had the surgery.....Everyone we met at Georgetown was wonderful to my husband and me...
I have had 4 wonderful years......I Thank God every night for bringing Dr. Cox into my life and for doing the surgery.....
My local heart doctor told me I could live with A-Fib but I was to young to live the way I was living....But he also told me it was major surgery with all the dangers and risks...
I've never regretted my choice !!! Pam
