Thank you steve for the very informative explanation. However, you have used medical terms that I am not familiar with. To make it easy on me to understand please answer the following question:

1) Since it is a rare problem to occure after the Maze operation could it be the result of an ERROR in the leanier cuts and incesions of the surgery (as indicated from your statment :It is established typically when one of the cryoablation lines is not extended completely across the coronary sinus) ?.

What is the solution to my problem if medication is not effective:

DC Cardio-Version or RFA?

If it is RFA, what is the rate of sucess?

I also have high heart rate since the MAZE operation. It started after the operation as 120 bpm , dropped to 90 bpm at rest and with a peak during excercise of 135 bpm. Now it is 98 bpm as a min. with average of 112 bpm and a peak of 197 during rest????.

Could the RFA help reduce the heart beat or do I have to depend on Beta Blockers for the rest of my life?

Could a pacer only (without AV node ablation) contol my heart rate (i.e lower my heart rate) to a reasonable rate?

I agree with you, I will never consider AV node ablation as one of my options. But I need to look at all the reasonable options, and therfore I need all the help I can get.

Any advise would be appreciated.
