Terry, I did have problems with the wires in my sternum. I don't think it happens very often, but they were really bothering me. The sternum area stayed sore, and at 2 years post op, he said they should be removed. It was very minor surgery, (usually outpatient), and it made a WONDERFUL difference. I had developed a lot of scar tissue in the area also, and he cut it out. I guess the scar tissue or wires had restricted my head and neck movement, and it was so gradual, that I didn't really notice it until they were out. I felt so much better and could move my head much more freely.
