Dear Troy,
See my previous stories about the coumadin and especially the very instructive answers from Steve. In short:despite lack of atrial transport in about 50% of the cases,it seems common that the coumadin is stopped 3-6 months after the maze. That is,if there are no other reasons to continue.(f.i.valve problems).I remember a survey where they found that the incidence of CVA and TIA after the maze(for lone atrial fibrillation) is the same as in normal population. But in Holland they think (thought?) a little bit different and it costed me a lot of arguments to get my cardiologists approval of stopping the coumadin.
I hope this will help you a bit.
