Yours is the best answer to this question, a point I should have made myself, although I'm not sure all of the surgeons or hospitals are keeping complete tabs on their patients. Perhaps this is what Ed means when he says he can't agree with me. I tried to emphasize that my answers were based upon MY experiences, which have been good. I hope that no one thinks that the mini-maze is less effective than the open chest routine, but it does appear as though the mini recipients who have reported their experiences have taken longer to get into SR, but as I have said, most of ALL mazers end up in SR. The
mini mazers ARE able to get back to lifting and other heavy activities earlier than those who have the open chest, so there are trade-offs for both.
The important thing is that MOST of us end up "cured". And, as you said so succinctly, ask questions, questions, questions!!
